If you love Advent calendars, you’ll love this!

Turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel!
Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return!

Well I woke up 2 hours earlier as I pledged. Did some praying, but didn’t get out of bed for another 30 minutes. But nevertheless here we are. How’s your Lenten renewal going so far? Feel free to share your commitments and struggles here or on our Facebook/Twitter pages to build a community of trust, accountability and encouragement!

Gotta love the hard lovin’ truth we proclaim today; Ash Wednesday! I’ll be honest this is perhaps my favourite day to be Catholic. We can evangelize simply by resisting the urge to rub our foreheads and remove the black smudge that resembles nothing of a cross that remains on our head after attending an ash Wednesday mass or service. I also urge you to go to get ashed earlier in the day if you can. I know I’m guilty of finding that 11PM service somewhere so I can wear those ashes for as short a time as possible. Be bold, be ash and witness the gospel to the world in your schools, workplaces, and homes!

This is just a quick post of encouragement for us all as we begin our Lenten journey. And here’s a few resources to help you through it.

Loved Advent calendars? Well xt3.com (like catholic Facebook started at WYD08 in Sydney) and BustelHalo.com (great catholic young adult website) have their own LENTEN calendars with prayers, resources, ideas of almsgiving. Check them out. Also below is a quick summary of why we do lent and ash Wednesday from a video by Busted Halo and an article by Mark Hart from Lifeteen. Enjoy and spread around!
